Billionaire Tells Americans to Prepare For 'Financial Ruin'

The United States could soon become a large-scale Spain or Greece, teetering on the edge of financial ruin.
That’s according to Donald Trump, who painted a very ugly picture of where this country is headed. Trump made the comments during a recent appearance on Fox News’ “On the Record with Greta Van Susteren.”
According to Trump, the United States is no longer a rich country. “When you’re not rich, you have to go out and borrow money. We’re borrowing from the Chinese and others. We’re up to $16 trillion in debt.”
He goes on to point out that the downgrade of U.S. debt is inevitable.

Michael Kerr, an international business speaker and author of " You Can't Be Serious! Putting Humor to Work," agrees. "Many candidates jump in feet first largely out of fear — especially fear that another opportunity may not come their way again," he explains. Scientists discover one of the most Earth-like planets yet

Can Gliese 832c support life, or is it just a super-Venus?
By Ellis Hamburger

Sci-News.com is reporting that astronomers at the University of New South Wales have discovered an Earth-like planet just 16 light-years away. The planet, dubbed Gliese 832c, is orbiting a red dwarf star half the mass and radius of our own sun. Gliese 832c has an orbital period of about 35 days, and a mass more than five times that of Earth's. More importantly, however, Gliese 832c is orbiting within the habitable zone of the red dwarf, and receives the same average stellar energy as Earth does from the Sun, Sci-News.com reports.

10 Beliefs of Highly Successful People

At first glance, highly successful people may seem like they only succeeded in life because of their talent, their great connections or their family. However, that’s not the case at all! They manage to excel in their industry and make millions of dollars because of their amazing beliefs.
What are some of them? Here they are:
1. Forget fate! Focus on doing what you love.
If you want to be highly successful, don’t just rely on the concept of “destiny”. Don’t even think about fooling yourself by thinking that “fate” will let whatever’s meant to be to happen.

Why Many Unemployed Workers Will Never Get Jobs

Ira Wolfe
Despite steady but slow economic improvement, unemployed workers aren't finding jobs. With each passing day, more and more workers with out-of-date skills will find themselves on the outside looking in.
While dissension between political parties about fixing the economy is fierce and turf battles muddy up regional and local solutions, nearly everyone agrees that job training and re-training programs are critical.
That's true. I have no qualms about training employed and unemployed workers new skills. It's a must. It's a necessity. It's an indisputable truth.
But we have a huge problem on our hands that runs much deeper than the unemployment figures reveal.

Project Management Lessons From Captain America: The Winter Soldier

By Daniel Dern
You’ve got one heck of a big, sprawling project to manage, even if you’re not a member of Marvel Comics’
S.H.I.E.L.D., trying to protect the world. Perhaps you can use some mentoring from the new Marvel Comics-based movie, Captain America: The Winter Soldier, and from last year’s Avengers movie.
(Plot spoilers are inevitable. You’ve been warned.)
1. Big projects can be all-too-easily co-opted for somebody else’s agenda.
Whether you are building a trio of helicarriers (think “navy aircraft carriers that fly”) that interact with spy satellites for pro-active anti-terrorism, or you are re-engineering the aging Verrazano-Narrows Bridge, it’s important to make sure that your project stays on course for its goal.

When You Start to Pursue Your Dreams, These 13 Things Will Happen

BY CATHARINE SYMBLÈME
If you’ve ever considered making a living doing something besides working 40 hours a week making someone else rich, this article is for you.

“The only true success that exists is when we find a way to make a living doing exactly what we want. When you wake up every morning and create your day exactly how you dream it to be, that is success. When your passion and your work are aligned, when you would do your job for free because you like it so much, that is success.” ~ Eric Dubay
1. You’ll step out of your comfort zone. Way out.
And then you’ll find out that comfort is overrated, anyway.

2. You’ll get scared.
And then you’ll survive, and it will be impossible for the same things to ever scare you as much again.

10 Habits of Highly Unfocused People

In a world with information bombarding us from each and every angle and the daily grind moving at a breakneck pace; it’s hard to stay focused. With so many decisions and so much information to digest at every turn, being unfocused can be a detriment to your personal and professional life. Are you suffering from information overload? Here are 10 habits of highly unfocused people to watch for
1. They don’t see the forest through the trees.
Many tasks, projects, and independent elements combine to complete projects. Often it seems like you have plenty of time, weeks even, to complete a task. You do what you’re supposed to and dive right in. You work, tirelessly, to complete each task. You make sure every detail is perfect, all the i’s dotted and the t’s crossed. But too many times, diving into the details takes the focus off the overall goal and sends you down a rathole from which you can’t recover. Save the optional bonus points until the end, keeping your focus on the goal of completion.

5 Hilarious Career Lessons from Game of Thrones

‘Game of Thrones’ has everything: sword fights, dragons, crazy wigs, and a 7,000-foot wall. But did you also know buried behind the dragons, dark story arcs, and interesting familial *cough* relations, you can also find some pretty sound career advice?
Warning: I’ve read all the books, so there will be some minor spoilers ahead. Don’t say I didn't warn you!
Let’s dive in, shall we?
1. Your network is the best way to land a job (and a title!)
Tyrion has proven this many times; his network was related, but he landed a prime job as Hand of the King and as Master of Coin due to his Lannister ties. Granted, he didn't want the second job, but he wouldn't have gotten it without a little help from his dad.

Building Loyalty Among Your Subordinates

By Michael C. Dennis, MBA, CB

Loyal employees are assets to the department and to the company. Being able to inspire loyalty among subordinates is one of the marks of a leader. Loyal employees tend to work hard, work better in teams, have
lower absenteeism rates, and change employers less frequently. Low turnover and low absenteeism results in a more effective and efficient department. The key question is this: How does a manager go about building loyalty among subordinates? Here are a few ideas:
Criticize in private, and praise subordinates in public.
Keep your word... whether you have made a promise or a threat - it is important to your credibility to follow through.
Give subordinates the benefit of the doubt. Often mistakes occur because employees have not been fully trained. If this is part of the cause of a problem, accept the blame yourself.

Workplace Bullies

I once worked with a workplace bully who would flip out on people and scream at them and say horrible things when we weren't providing her with what she needed, when she needed it.

I had a job and was the supervisor in a companies electronic service department. I got along great with my department and things ran efficiently. The VP was pleased with my department. Then the company decided to buy out a competitor in another state and one of their service department managers relocated and became my boss. He was a rude, arrogant very short man who had the need to blow his horn often to make himself feel big. He flat out told me that I knew too much about the department and the equipment we serviced and he got where he was by who he "squashed" and I was his next victim. He first ruined my reputation with my department by telling lies about me and then he started removing the tools I needed to do my job, including my desk which he emptied and relocated to his office since it was nicer than his.

What's the craziest thing that happened at your workplace?

This happened before I worked there, but the story I've heard is:

One of the workers got really wound up by a manager, and attacked him. The worker is tall, in good shape, mid-late twenties; the manager is average height, average build, late thirties. The worker did not know that the manager is a blackbelt in something or other.

The manager held nothing back when he defended himself, and he literally beat the shit out of the worker. Notfiguratively. The worker soiled himself while being beaten up by a smaller, older man.

The craziest part? Both of them still work there.

What Not To Say In A Job Interview

You dry cleaned your suit. You've got a dozen copies of your résumé, just in case. You arrived early -- but not too early. You silenced your cell phone. You made small talk with the receptionist, and you're pretty sure the two of you will be best friends one day. Now, you're about to confidently head into an interview for a job you're dying to land.
Don't ruin it all by saying any of the following to your interviewer:
'My last boss was an idiot'
No matter how terrible your last boss was, or how glad you are to be free of your previous company, keep it to yourself. Not only will you look immature and negative if you start griping, but you also never know whom your interviewer is connected to. Your interviewer and your former boss may be old fraternity brothers, for all you know.
